Homecare providers will share their tech journeys, including why and how they introduced technology, what difference it is making to quality and efficiency, and what lessons they wish to share with others.
Chair: Dr Jane Townson - CEO, Homecare Association
Head of Systems and Development, Right at Home
Joint CEO, Caremark
David joined Caremark in 2014 heading up the franchise recruitment team, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in retail, hospitality and the fast-food industry. This knowledge and experience provided David with a strong understanding and appreciation of the challenges of recruitment and retention and that of staff welfare and support. In 2018 David took on the role of Managing Director overseeing all departments within the business including operations, franchise recruitment, training, marketing and IT. Following the passing of Caremark’s founder and former CEO Kevin Lewis, David was appointed Joint CEO alongside Lisa Fyfe, Caremark’s Finance Director. David had ambitions to dramatically drive the business forwards whilst building on the foundations that Kevin had created. What has always been at the heart of the business are Caremark’s core values and since becoming Joint CEO.
David has been intrinsic in developing the brand and bringing it into the 21st century. Seeking to recruit the best marketing and operations directors, David has employed a brand new senior leadership team who have revamped Caremark through effective marketing and modern direction. Since his appointment as Joint CEO, relationships and engagement with franchisees has grown stronger and the network has continued to grow. With 132 franchise offices across the UK, India, Ireland and Malta, Caremark has a great reputation for excellence in care, as well as developing award-winning franchise owners. In August 2022 David was recognised as one of the most influential leaders in the home care sector being named in Home Care Insight’s Power List. The list recognises individuals who are shining examples of excellence and innovation and have advanced, flourished, and truly made their mark in the industry this year.
CEO, Clece Care Services
Since joining Clece in 2009, Mario has progressed into different senior management positions. In 2016, he joined Clece Care Services Ltd. as Chief Executive. Since then, he has been leading the development of the domiciliary care services for Clece in the UK, which currently provide domiciliary care for 8,500 people. Additionally, he is also a board member and treasurer of the Homecare Association.
Founder & CEO, Guardian Angel Carers
As a world number one in the double-handed sailing discipline, Christina Handasyde Dick competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. She now brings that same commitment to excellence as the natural navigator at the helm of Guardian Angel Carers.
Christina was inspired to build a care business by the closeness she felt to her own grandmothers, witnessing them experience frailty and dementia. In 2012 she founded GAC, where, from the start, her guiding principle was ‘how can we do things better?’. A measure of her success in this was the award of a Care Quality Commission ‘Outstanding’ rating, and an MBE for services to the care industry in 2022.
The business now comprises three owned branches delivering 7,500+ hours of care per week, and 10 franchised operations across the UK.
Sailing continues to play an important part in Christina’s life, with a round-the-world adventure accompanied by her three children and GP husband at the top of her bucket list.
