This dementia care training and resource pack is specifically designed to enable organisations to deliver high quality care to service users who have been diagnosed with or who are at risk of developing dementia, and their family and carers.
This interactive course is designed for domiciliary care managers and trainers, providing them with the tools to deliver high quality dementia training to their workforce with confidence. It shapes the skills of frontline staff enabling them, in turn, to have the self-assurance in providing a service that is tailored to the needs of their clients living with or at risk of getting dementia. It examines the ‘why’ and what staff can do to respond in those difficult situations.
Following the Well pathway for dementia it gives a person-centred approach covering subjects such as: what is dementia, diagnosis process, risk factors, dementia’s possible impact on the brain, sensory changes, differences in communication, understanding triggers to behaviour, different realities and how to respond to some of the most emotional questions, supporting activities, promoting independence, end of life, supporting families and much more.
