The ‘Christmas social’ organised by Westmorland Homecare’s South Lakeland branch was held at Netherfield Cricket Club and featured seasonal food and drink, music and dancing and carols sung by local schoolchildren.

Around 20 clients, along with some of the branch’s office team and homecare assistants, attended the event at the club house.

“It was a fun and festive event,” said Charlotte Oram, the branch’s Care Coordinator – Recruitment.

“Client social events like this one are a brilliant opportunity to put our company values, which include enriching the lives of our clients, into practice.

“They are a fantastic reminder of why all of us at Westmorland Homecare do what we do and a wonderful opportunity to get our clients in a room together to offer each other friendship and celebration at a time of year that can be deeply isolating and lonely for some.

“By creating a space for celebration with clients, home care assistants and office staff, we are making the best of the festive season and pushing off the dark and cold for another day!”

Netherfield Cricket Club provided the festively-decorated room at the clubhouse free of charge, while Westmorland Homecare provided transport to the event as well as the food and drink on offer. There was a Christmas lunch spread of soup, light bites and Christmas deserts, mulled wine and non-alcoholic fizz, as well as a good brew and mince pies.

“We had a Christmas raffle provided by Westmorland Homecare and people enjoyed music over the sound system provided by Netherfield,” said Charlotte.

A highlight of the event was when children from Selside Primary School sang Christmas carols for the clients and then stopped for a snack and a chat after they had performed.

“Westmorland Homecare is sending out gifts to all our clients this month to thank them for choosing us and to give them a little sparkle this cold season,” said Charlotte.

“We want our clients to know they are valued and dear to us and we hope the gifts are enjoyed and brighten our clients’ days.”

Meanwhile, the company is also sending gifts to all its staff as a thank you for their tireless hard work. “Our staff have gone above and beyond to make sure our clients have received the highest-quality, most-consistent care we can possibly provide,” said Charlotte.

“We are forever celebrating their brilliant work and this is a time to make the most of that celebration.”
