Updated Care Certificate standards and new Digital Leadership qualification

The Care Certificate Standards outline minimum training that staff should receive as part of their induction. Skills for Care have updated the Standards following the launch of the Level 2 qualification in Adult Social Care. Changes include (but are not limited to): development of the infection control standard, capturing learning from the COVID pandemic; the launch of a new learning disability and autism standard; and a number of additional changes on recognising restrictive practices, dementia, discrimination and more. You can find the full Care Certificate standards on Skills for Care's website, including a summary of changes.

The Secretary of State has also announced the launch of a new Level 5 qualification for Digital Leadership in Adult Social Care. The qualification is aimed at leaders and managers in the social care sector. There is a lot of flexibility in what areas the Qualification body will focus on, these could include: smart home technologies, assistive technologies, technologies worn by staff, telecare, diagnostic tools, digital social care records, business software and AI and robotics technology. The Qualification Criteria that Qualification bodies will use to develop courses are here
