Testing and Statutory Sick Pay Enhancement extended in Wales
The Welsh Government has announced that free twice asymptomatic weekly testing for social care staff will continue until the end of July.
The sector-specific Statutory Sick Pay Enhancement Scheme will also remain in place to support staff who are isolating until 31st August. However, the self-isolation payments for the general public, of £500, will no longer be available. We know that the removal of the Infection Control and Testing Fund in England has had a significant effect on the sector in terms of access to sick pay whilst people have COVID or suspected COVID, so we are pleased to here that the Welsh Government have extended this scheme.
