Social Care Wales update their workforce plan

Social Care Wales have updated and refreshed their workforce plan. This includes ongoing support to develop social care leaders, to understand the supply and shape of the workforce, to support recruitment, wellbeing and more.

We welcome the ongoing focus on supporting the workforce from Social Care Wales.

Some of the challenges the workforce faces in Wales relate to how local authorities and health boards commission care and funding arrangements. The resolution of these issues, which play an important role in shaping the experience of careworkers day to day, will not only require input from Social Care Wales but also serious engagement from the Welsh Government, Social Care Fair Work Forum and people across Wales about the value of care work and how care will be provided going forwards.
