The Nuffield Trust, a leading independent health think tank, has announced a major research project investigating NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) in England.

The study, partially funded by the Nuffield Foundation, aims to shed light on the complexities and variations in this crucial but often misunderstood area of health and social care.

The project, running from January to December 2024, seeks to:

  1. Understand factors driving variations in CHC provision
  2. Explore links between CHC and patient/local characteristics
  3. Identify local initiatives addressing these variations
  4. Develop recommendations for system-wide improvements

The research team is actively seeking care providers in England to participate in a series of online focus groups. These discussions will provide crucial insights into the CHC eligibility process and local commissioning practices.
