Regulator asking for feedback on the CQC Way

The Care Quality Commission’s work on resetting and refocusing are continuing. The regulator is asking for feedback on draft proposals, developed following earlier feedback. These describe why CQC exists, what they aim to achieve and how they work. From 12 March, CQC will be inviting feedback through a secure and anonymous online platform which will be open until 26 March.  Sign up at The CQC Way | Partners. Registered persons in a health or social care provider will be contacted direct by CQC to give their response.

Norovirus still putting pressure on NHS hospitals

NHS England has warned that norovirus is continuing to put pressure on NHS hospitals with over 40,000 bed days lost to the vomiting bug in February 2025, and both hospital and care homes settings feeling the impact. Guidance stresses the importance of washing hands frequently with soap and water (alcohol gels do not kill norovirus) and if people are unwell, avoiding mixing with others until they have been symptom-free for two days.

Lone working guidance

The Health and Safety Executive’s leaflet Protecting lone workers: How to manage the risks of working alone is free and aimed at anyone who employs lone workers, or engages them as contractors, including self-employed people or those who work alone.  The leaflet is supported by HSE's lone working webpages and a lone workers video that explains the basic advice.

Neurodiversity at work

A reminder Acas has published advice on neurodiversity to help employers create inclusive organisations and raise awareness at work.

Keeping employment records

The Information Commissioner provides information and guidance about keeping employment records, as part of their guidance on employment practices and data protection.

National Apprenticeship Week

The recent National Apprenticeship Week raised awareness of Adult Care Worker Apprenticeships, as a way of building essential skills while supporting those who need care and support.
