Health Secretary asks NHS to prioritise patient safety for winter
The Health and Social Care Secretary has asked the NHS to prioritise patient safety this winter, as record numbers of people are in hospital and there were over four times more flu admissions at the end of November compared to the same time last year.
Muslim leaders and UKHSA urge communities to get winter vaccines
The UK Health Security Agency and British Islamic Medical Association are urging members of the Muslim community to prioritise flu and COVID-19 vaccination to help boost their immunity against winter viruses. People eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations are advised to book their jab swiftly as the National Booking System ends on 20 December.
Refreshed NHS Workplan due next summer
The government and NHS are to publish a refreshed workforce plan next summer with a focus on shifting care from hospitals and into the community. This follows Lord Darzi’s report on systemic issues affecting the NHS which have led to poorer experiences for patients and staff. The government's Plan for Change includes plans to deliver an NHS fit for the future as part of a decade of national renewal.
