Homecare provider launches initiative to raise cash for children’s charity
A homecare provider is launching an innovative scheme to raise money for a children’s charity.
On Wednesday, June 28, Westmorland Homecare will publish a post on its Facebook site highlighting the work of Action for Children – and will donate 50p to the charity for every share the post receives between then and July 5.
“Here at Westmorland Homecare, we not only support and care for our elderly and frail clients and their families but we also strive to support the amazing younger generation,” said Shannen Aplin, Westmorland Homecare’s care coordinator - recruitment.
“Action for Children is an amazing charity with a caring ethos which is very similar to ours at Westmorland Homecare. We hope the Facebook post will help to raise awareness of this outstanding organisation and also raise money for it.”
Action for Children protects and supports children and young people by providing practical and emotional care and support. It aims to make sure their voices are heard and it campaigns to bring lasting improvements to their lives.
Shannen said the team at Westmorland Homecare’s Kendal office had come up with the fund-raising idea, adding: “With the cost of living so high at the moment it can be children who are affected as well as adults so that is one of the reasons why we chose to raise money for Action for Children.”
Shannen said Westmorland Homecare hoped to run regular charity fund-raising initiatives in the future.
Westmorland Homecare provides hundreds of hours of care each week to enable elderly and often frail people to live independently in their own home.
Its services include home care, such as help with housekeeping and meal preparation, and personal care, such as help with dressing, bathing and getting in and out of bed.
