The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have published the results of their exploration into the risks both care workers and clients may experience during extreme cold weather.
The aim of the research was to explore general preparedness for cold weather and identify best practice to incorporate into the current guidance on cold weather planning.
The study found three areas In which information could be improved for domiciliary care workers:
1. More tailored and practical formal guidance from UKHSA.
2. Information to enable consistent coordination and communication within agencies and local authorities.
3. Greater clarity about what information to provide to clients to ensure they are getting all the support available.
