The Department for Work and Pension (DWP) are urging pensioners to check if they are eligible for Pension Credit to secure their winter fuel payment, as recent statistics estimate that 880,000 households who are eligible for the support have yet to claim.

The Department has said that around £1.3 million households in England and Wales will continue to received the payments.

Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Sir Ed Davey MP, has announced he will table a motion to block the government’s proposed plan to cut winter fuel allowance when parliament resumes next week.

We will keep members up to date on the development of this decision.
