Cumbrian Care Provider Receives Outstanding Review
The council's review assessed care planning, recruitment safety, staff training, and service leadership. It praised the carers for their dedication and experience, highlighting their meticulous adherence to person-centred care plans that address clients' needs, wishes, and goals. Carers were noted for their familiarity with client needs, thorough training, and responsiveness to changing needs.
The review also highlighted the leadership of Registered Manager Colette Russell, who draws from her personal experiences, including her father's battle with MS and dementia, giving her a deep understanding of the challenges families face. She stated, "My personal experiences shape my approach at Eden Country Care. I understand the emotions involved in caring for a family member. It's why we always prioritise dignity and uphold the highest standards in every aspect of our service.”
Additionally, the companionship service offered by Eden Country Care across Cumbria was praised for its innovative approach to supporting clients in attending community events and activities. The service has dedicated staff members who solely work as companions and therefore have the flexibility to assist people in attending the theatre, markets and even short breaks or holidays.
The council commended the company’s dedication to the community, particularly its role as the chair of the University of Birmingham’s Impact project, which focuses on combating rural isolation. These meetings provide a platform for clients and healthcare providers to discuss strategies for improving access to healthcare in rural towns and villages across Cumbria.
