Care First 24 wins awards at the Kent Care Awards
Our amazing Registered Manager, Lynn James-Wellings, won the category ‘The Community Care Manager’ and Jody Lewis, Clinical Manager, won ‘The Social Care Nursing Award’. They both fully deserved this recognition.
Lynn James-Wellings is a well-respected champion of quality care, with over 30 years’ experience within both domiciliary and complex care. Lynn is passionate about best practice person-centred care and champions the ‘Care at Home’ agenda. At Care First 24 she has incorporated the TOTUS wellbeing project to support both clients and staff.
Her current role is Managing Director and Registered Manager of Care First 24 and she has been instrumental in growing the company. In just over the 2 years since inception, a team of 4 at the beginning has grown to a 28-strong office team, a care professional team of 94+ carers, 1 nursing associate, 36 nurses and 15 support workers.
Feedback from a service user stated: ‘‘I just wanted to send you an email to feedback on our experience with Care First 24. This email is just a small token of how I feel, to be honest, I could never quite put into words just how vital you and your support staff have been to my dad’s life and mine over the last few months.”
Jody Lewis is a registered nurse who specialises in complex care at home. Jody joined Care First 24 as our Clinical Lead and has recently been promoted to Clinical Manager for Adults.
As a key strategic member of our care team, Jody is integral to our vision of supporting integrated health and social care services, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes and more efficient use of resources. Her responsibility extends beyond traditional nursing care to encompass a wide range of activities that ensure seamless and holistic care for individuals.
This annual awards ceremony took place on Friday 13th September at the Mercure Great Danes Hotel, and we spent the evening together with some absolutely awesome people working within social care. This allowed us to celebrate everything about care and our staff's success and show our appreciation for their fantastic work.
Starting with a drinks reception and a chance to chat with the other finalists and their colleagues, we were seated to enjoy a three-course meal. The award winners were announced whilst we were seated and the anticipation in the room was palpable, and filled with happiness when the winners were announced!
This was definitely an evening to remember, and the opportunity to shine a spotlight on inspiring people who work in the Home Care Sector and to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.
A big thank you also to Kent Integrated Care Alliance for putting on such a wonderful care awards ceremony!
