Care Assistant steps into the ring for charity

Reuben, who works hands-on with clients providing essential home care services, is not just an employee at Caremark—he’s also the son of one of the company’s owners and its care manager. As well as his family ties to the business, he’s committed to making a difference in the lives of those he supports, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care.
But beyond his role in care, Reuben has set his sights on a new challenge. He is currently training for a white-collar boxing match on 29th March at the Grand hotel, Brighton to raise funds for Winston’s Wish, a charity close to his heart. Winston’s Wish supports children who have experienced bereavement, providing them with crucial guidance and counselling during difficult times.
Reuben’s motivation for this cause is deeply personal. In July 2018, he tragically and unexpectedly lost his little sister, an experience that had a profound impact on his life. During that challenging time, Winston’s Wish provided him with the counselling and emotional support he needed to help navigate his grief. Now, he is determined to give back by stepping into the ring and raising funds to help other children facing similar losses.
“Being a care assistant has taught me so much about resilience and patience, and that is definitely something I want to bring into my training for this fight,” said Reuben. “Winston’s Wish was there for me when I needed them the most, and now I want to help them continue their amazing work for other children who are grieving.”
The white-collar boxing match, which will take place on March 29th at the Grand hotel, Brighton will see Reuben going up against another first-time fighter in a controlled and regulated environment. He has been training rigorously, balancing his full-time care work with intense boxing sessions to ensure he is ready for the challenge.
Reuben’s colleagues and office staff at Caremark (Brighton and Hove) have rallied behind him, offering their full support for his efforts, both in and out of work and many are eager to contribute to his fundraising campaign for this amazing charity.
Reuben is hoping to raise significant funds for Winston’s Wish while also shining a light on the importance of bereavement support for young people.
For Reuben, both his work in care and his charity efforts reflect the same core values: empathy, dedication, and the drive to improve the lives of others. Whether in a client’s home or the boxing ring, he is proving that true strength comes from helping those who need it most.
