Homecare Association responds to Inquiry on Adult Social Care Reform: the Cost of Inaction
The Homecare Association has submitted its response to the Health and Social Care Committee Inquiry on Adult Social Care Reform: the Cost of Inaction
In the response, we highlight the wide range of costs associated with inaction: from loss of service capacity due to provider closures to worsening mental wellbeing for people needing care and their families; from pressures on other areas of local authority budgets to costs associated with unpaid carers leaving work.
We call on the Government to fund a long-term multi-year financial settlement that will meet the costs of National Insurance Contribution increases and cover the full costs of care. We also call for an end to zero-hours commissioning, a National Contract for Care Services and the meaningful inclusion of providers in Fair Pay negotiations.
